Java and Javascript ResourcesSun's Java site includes source code to the JDK, a number of applets written by the JavaSoft people, the Java related FAQs, and describes how to write backward compatible applets. Java API Documentation, from Sun, details each of the Java interfaces, classes, fields, constructors, and methods. This is a great technical resource for Java programmers. Allaire's Cold Fusion development tool has a product demo download available as well. NetBeans is a cross platform java IDE. Their development package is an object oriented, visual programming environment written in Java, and based entirely on JavaBeans components and Swing. Shlurrrpp, a user-friendly java tutorial, is a basic tutorial that covers standalone programs, foundation classes, applets, threads, playing with images, databases, and servlets. The java repository is a collection of resources for programmers, including algorithms, databases, graphics, networking, programming tools, tutorials, user interfaces, and more. Inside Java is a collection of articles and links about various aspects of java. It deals primarily with advanced java examples and tutorials, as well as the latest Java news and developments. IBM's Multimedia Introduction to Java is a one-hour, web-based course on Java that uses a combination of video, audio, graphics, and text to provide flexible, accessible education at home and in the office while keeping a personal approach with a "live" instructor video. The tutorial uses the Bamba audio-video streaming plug-in that can be used on Win95, WinNT, or OS/2. A text version of the course is also available. Java Howto, by David H. Silber, explains how to set up your server to allow CGI programs written in Java and how to use Java to write CGI programs. JavaWorld is the magazine for the Java community of developers, managers, and enthusiasts. It includes hands-on, how-to features and columns by Java experts. There are always lots of tips and tricks to making your web page look better with a little Java code. The Java Developer's Journal is a daily emag that includes sections like the java forum, the reader svc form, source code, product reviews, the buyer's guide, feature stories, the java gallery, editorials, the developer store, and java related jobs. Thought, Inc. sells CocoBase, a tool that allows access to data sources such as relational databases through a high level java programming interface. Kneedeep in Java is a new tutorial for the programming language Java written by Stefan Koch. It s not meant to be a beginners guide to Java, but discussions advanced Java topics. The tutorial is designed for Java 1.0.x, but should be useful for later versions as well. The Applet Arcade was the original WWW Java-based arcade, a testing ground for all new Java games. Some of the games require a high speed connection and a fast computer, but most of them will work with a 28.8 modem and a 486DX66 or higher. Marty Hall's Java Programming Resources includes pointers to a wealth of information including FAQs, tutorials and documentation, overviews of Java topics, using applets and classes, and Java development environments. FreewareJava.com has links to hundreds of java applets, java sites and ezines, tutorials, books, forums, and javascript resources. Yahoo's Java Pages include links to applets, companies, contests and events, mailing lists, security topics, utilities, and user groups. CGI ResourcesMatt's Script Archive and the Script Archive FAQ contain many perl CGI scripts and the FAQ explains how to set them up and troubleshoot any problems. Selena Sol's Script Archive is a collection of CGI scripts written by Selena Sol and Gunther Birznieks have written. The scripts come with no promises or guarantees because the original intent was not to distribute code, but to share ideas. Scott Wimer's Script Archive is a growing collection of public domain perl scripts, many of which are CGI scripts. The perlWWW site at uci.edu is an index of many perl programs geared towards the web. Some of the software include application, converters, development, graphics, utility, and browser perl scripts. Dale Bewley's perl scripts and links site includes several perl CGI scripts dealing with image conversion, cataloging, and display. Dale's page also includes a number of links to other sites that have books, mailing lists, more perl scripts, and perl references and tutorials. The web developer's virtual perl library includes links to various perl references and a perl bulletin board. Developer.com has an extensive listing of resources for the programmer. Amazon.com lists most known published java books, including the O'Reilly java, perl, and general web/internet development books. WebKnowHow.net offers resrouces for various kinds of web development, including CGIs, databases, graphics, java, javascript, perl, and more. perlcoders.com is a subscription perl repository that alsos sell perl code on a one shot basis.
